What is "Just One ROC"?

At it's very core, "Just One ROC" is about obstacles.  It's about overcoming them.  Obstacles can become giants.  Giants in our personal lives.  Giants in the lives of our families.  Giants in the life of our church.  We have all been challenged by problems that seem larger than life; problems that cause us to draw back in hesitation and fear.  These are our giants.

God tells us much about giants.  The life of David reveals volumes about how to face our giants.  David's life shows us the importance of living life focused on God, not our giants.  God's power is greater than anything that ever stands in our way.  His resources are more vast than any need we will ever face. With just one rock, David slew the giant that stood before him.
God has blessed us with an opportunity.  We stand on one side of  a valley. On the other side stands our giant - the debt we owe on our Recreation Outreach Center (the ROC).  Adding the ROC to our physical plant has been a great blessing.  We have been able to add many new ministries while also expanding others.   Eliminating our debt on the ROC will allow us to move forward with other objectives to reach our community for the Kingdom of God.
"Just One ROC" is also a campaign to celebrate God's goodness in how He has blessed us.  He has blessed us through the ministries that the ROC houses.  He has blessed us over the past year in growth - spiritually and in number.  "Just One ROC" is a campaign to promote overcoming our giants - as a church and individuals - by focusing on God.  His resources.  His power.  His will.  His way.

God at Work

Sunday morning, February 24th, Brother John shared some astounding news about how God had moved during the week.

The previous Monday afternoon, Bro. John received a call from a law firm in Rockwall, asking him to come meet with them.  In a meeting that afternoon, it was shared that a Charitable Endowment Fund that was established to help facilitate the spread of the Gospel through support of worthy "Christian organizations" had chosen our church to receive a dollar for dollar matching contribution up to $550,000!  This is right at one-half of the payoff amount of our loan on the ROC.

The match is available for 18-months, retroactive to January 1, 2008.  In order to receive the match on a monthly basis, giving to our church's regular budget must be maintained at 90%.

Budget giving in January and thus far in February has been behind the 90% mark.  As of the close of the Sunday morning service, approximately $15,000 was needed by February 29 to reach the 90% mark, thus allowing us to begin receiving the matching amounts for funds given to Just One ROC.
God's gracious generousity poured out through His people as we made up our budget need.  After a slow start in January in our new budget year, giving in February soared after Brother John's announcement.  February donations raced toward our "required" monthly budget amount of $78,355, reaching over $87,900 by February 29.  Thus, the 90% of budget requirement was met to allow us to receive the matching gift for amounts given in both January and February.

God continued to show His awesome capabilities as giving to the ROC in February also swelled, reaching over $48,000 for the month.  Combined with January giving to the ROC, and the matching gift, we already have enough to pay off 10 percent of our note on the ROC!
