Terrell is a growing community of approximately 15,000 people, located about 30 miles east of downtown Dallas along I-20/U.S. Hwy 80. Our city offers the benefits of small town living with the conveniences of the Dallas metroplex.
Founded in 1873, the City of Terrell is the principal commercial center of Kaufman County. Terrell is located within a triangle formed by three of the best lakes in northeast Texas: Lake Tawakoni, Lake Ray Hubbard, and Cedar Creek Reservoir.
Schools
Terrell High School is a 4-A school, and home of the Fighting Tigers. The school houses grades 9-12, with an approximate enrollment of 1,050 students. Two new schools in town include Long Elementary, housing 3rd and 4th grades, and the Herman Furlough MIddle School. Other primary campuses include Burnett, which houses Pre-K and Kindergarten, Kennedy which includes 1st and 2nd grades., and Wood Intermediate where the 5th and 6th grades are located.
